Progress II

Lauren and I have a meeting on Friday with two sponsors from CARE, about coordinating with their Shatter the Silence project.

Story Project

Thinking about doing a piece on the area I grew up in.

  • Flooded the most fertile land in the midwest--for no reason
  • Old Randolph mostly moved into new space
  • Town never flourished after that
  • Lake shots

Progress

Today we:

Emailed CARE, Women's Studies,  and Student Life about their event going on each month called Shatter the Silence. Discussed linking with them to help promote their event, but also still have a performance piece.

We need to:

Come up with text for general email/facebook to send out to get volunteers to be a part of the performance

Keep/Throw out the name

Logo

Decide on items to represent people and their experiences

More Ideas for Speak Up

  • Have a certain number of people show up in a specific color, i.e. red. Whatever that number is, relate it to the stats in some way... "This is 1/4 of the amount of people affected by sexual abuse on a campus this size..." etc.
  • UAV photos
  • Video
  • Megaphone reading stats
  • In between classes
  • Have things to leave around area with stories attached... Maybe shoes? People could donate old shows for the display, and then we could re-donate them afterwards.
  • have a certain number of people leave per statistic, what is left is how many rapes that are actually reported, get something out of the judicial system.
